The following includes information about the 108th Christmas Bird Count .

Kishwaukee Count Results

69 species and 26,590 individuals were spotted on the 2007 Kishwaukee Christmas Bird Count. This was one less species than the Rockford CBC but almost 7,000 more individual birds. However, this number is a bit misleading as 10,095 of these were European Starlings.

The main highlight was a first for Winnebago County (and of course, this count circle): BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE . Other notable birds:

  • Horned Lark (1,274)
  • White-winged Crossbill (1)
  • Common Redpoll (2)
  • Pine Siskin (22)
  • Lapland Longspur (17)
  • Snow Bunting (57)
  • Merlin (2)
  • Bald Eagle (8)
  • Cooper's Hawk (15)
  • Sharp-shinned Hawk (5)
